Official Records Contacts

Wayne County Busted Mugshots is a private reference site, not a government office. It cannot confirm a custody status, arrange a release, post bond, or pull an official booking record. Contact the agency that created or holds the record directly.

Where to Direct a Request

Wayne County's custody and court records sit with different offices. Confirm the current recipient before sending a time-sensitive request, especially because no separate sheriff records-unit line or booking-photo request form was published in the reviewed sources.

For a regional-jail custody question, use WVDCR's public search first. For an urgent confirmation, Western Regional Jail and Correctional Facility is at One O'Hanlon Place, Barboursville, WV 25504, 304-733-6821. That facility line is not a substitute for a public-records custodian. County administrative offices generally list Monday through Wednesday and Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; those hours do not guarantee a sheriff records clerk will be available.

  • For current or recent regional-jail custody, use the WVDCR offender-search hub and then the facility or sheriff if verification is needed.
  • For a specific Wayne agency record or booking-photo request, call the sheriff's main line and ask for the current records custodian and submission route.
  • For a magistrate matter, use the state court search and Wayne Magistrate Court at 304-272-5648.
  • For circuit records, contact the Wayne Circuit Clerk, P.O. Box 38, 700 Hendricks Street, Wayne, WV 25570, 304-272-6360.
  • For a sentenced state-prison record, use the WVDCR prison-search route rather than a regional-jail query.
  • For federal custody, use the Federal Bureau of Prisons locator. For qualifying ICE custody, use the ICE Online Detainee Locator.

Under West Virginia FOIA, make a request specific enough to identify the agency, person or booking number, date range, and exact record. Ask about actual reproduction costs before authorizing copies. The statutory response maximum is five days excluding weekends and legal holidays, but that does not guarantee immediate production or release.
